Joint Session: Navigating the Boardroom as a First-Time Director

The science is typically refined over many years of career experience but the art isn’t so clearly laid out to directors. Experienced Directors will provide an overview of the hard skills needed to succeed as a director (private or public board) and concrete advice on the soft skills needed to be an effective director from decorum, how to show-up, and when to show your Latinidad.

Joint Session: Learning from the Activist Investor Playbook

Corporate governance experts will explore navigating investor activism. What do directors need to do to avoid having their companies be the target of activist investors? And, if they are a target, how do they build a game plan that is in the best interest of the company and shareholders? How are boards successfully dealing with activist approaches, including proxy contests? Today, the activism landscape is changing and while board diversity is often a part of the discussion, it may be the most important.
